How to Fix: Activation button missing after entering license key

What to do if the activation button doesn’t appear after typing your license key.

Updated today

Why this happens

Sometimes the Activate button can disappear or be hidden if your display zoom (scaling) is set too high. This makes the confirmation button move off-screen so you can’t see or click it.

How to fix the problem

Step 1: Open Settings

On your computer, click the Start menu and select Settings.

The Start menu is the Windows logo button in the bottom-left corner of your screen. You can also open it by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.

Step 2: Go to Display settings

  1. In Settings, open System.

  2. Select Display.

Step 3: Adjust zoom/scaling

Find the setting for Scale (sometimes called zoom).

  • If it is set to higher than 100%, change it back to 100% (Recommended).

Step 4: Try entering your license key again

  1. Return to the activation screen.

  2. Enter your license key in the field.

  3. The Activate button should now appear, as shown in our example image.

Extra tip

If you prefer larger text or icons, you can temporarily set your zoom back to 100% to activate your license, then change it back to your preferred setting afterward.
