How to find computer specifications (Mac & Windows)

For Windows:

Quick tip:

Press the button above to access About settings directly (works only on Windows 10 & 11)

  1. Open the Start Menu: Click on the Windows icon located in the bottom of the screen. This will open the Start Menu.

  2. Type "System Information": In the search bar, type "System Information" and click on the matching result. This will open the "System Information" window.

  3. Review the specifications: In the "System Information" window, you will see a summary of your computer's specifications, including the operating system, processor, installed memory (RAM), system model, and system type.

  4. Explore additional details: To view more detailed information about your hardware components, expand the categories in the left sidebar. Some common categories include "Hardware Resources", "Components", and "Software Environment". Click on a category to view the related specifications.

You can also enter "About" in the search bar, which will lead you to your computer's specifications.

For MacOS:

  1. Click on the Apple icon: Locate the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen and click on it. This will open a dropdown menu.

  2. Select "About This Mac": In the dropdown menu, click on "About This Mac". A new window will open, displaying your Mac's specifications.

  3. Review the specifications: The "Overview" tab will display your Mac's model, processor, memory, graphics, and serial number. To get additional information, click on the "System Report" button, which will open the "System Information" window.

  4. Explore additional details: In the "System Information" window, you can view detailed specifications for hardware components, such as the storage, memory, and network settings. Use the left sidebar to navigate between different categories.
