If you have Microsoft 365, you can easily enable Dictate in Word by following the instructions here: Microsoft's Official Guide for Dictate in Word

    • Click the Windows Start button and type Speech Recognition.

    • Click on the result that appears.

  2. Click on Ease of Access.

  3. Click on Speech Recognition.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up speech recognition.

Start Dictating in Word

  1. Open Microsoft Word and place the cursor where you want to start typing.

  2. Say "Start dictation" to begin dictating.

  3. Speak clearly and slowly – your words will automatically be converted into text.

  4. When you're finished, say "Stop dictation".

  • Dictate in Word is only available for Microsoft 365.

  • In Office 2021, you can use Windows' built-in speech recognition instead.
