How to Fix: O365HomePremRetail error when installing Office

If you see this error while trying to install Office:

We can’t install

The following product(s) can’t be installed at the same time:

O365HomePremRetail

It means that a pre‑installed Microsoft Office app on your computer is blocking the installation.


Step 1: Open the list of installed apps

  1. Click the Start menu (Windows icon in the bottom left).

  2. Click the Settings icon.

  3. In the Settings window, click Apps.

  4. In the left menu, click Installed apps (or Apps & features).

  5. A full list of installed programs will now appear.


Step 2: Uninstall Microsoft Office Desktop Apps

  1. Scroll down the list until you find Microsoft Office Desktop Apps.

  2. Click the three dots or menu button to the right of the program name.

  3. Select Uninstall.

  4. Confirm the uninstallation when prompted.


Step 3: Install Office again

After uninstalling Microsoft Office Desktop Apps, open the Office installer again. The installation should now work without the error.
