Updated over 9 months ago

In this article, we will guide you in locating the activated product key on your computer. If you've misplaced your product key after activating Windows or if customer support has requested it, this article is here to help.

Method 1

This method is ideal when customer support asks for the last 5 characters of your product key, as they typically don't require the full key.

Step 1: Click on the Start menu, search for "Command Prompt," then right-click on it and choose "Run as administrator."

Step 2: Type "slmgr /dlv" and hit Enter.

You'll find the last 5 characters of your product key in the "Incomplete product key" line.

Method 2

This method will show you the whole key, although it's not always working, depending on which type of license you have.

Step 1: Click the Windows Start button.

Step 2: Type "cmd" in the search bar.

Step 3: Right-click on Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator."

Step 4: Click "Yes" when asked about allowing changes to your device.

Step 5: Copy and paste the following text:

wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

Step 6: Press Enter, and your product key will be displayed right after.
